The pie would have been frozen as it made its ascent to space- before being cooked in its foil tray as it hurtled back towards the ground.
A meat and potato pie has been sent sky high ahead of the World Pie Eating Championships next week. The pie was attached to a weather balloon and launched on Thursday from a pub car park. Organizers say it reached a height of 29 miles, boldly going where no pastry has been before.
Tony Callaghan, who owns Harry’s Bar, told the Guardian :
“Nasa didn’t want to know about this, so we got a couple of lads from Sheffield to sort it instead.”
